Ríoghnach got this grand old County Down song from Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin’s landmark 2003 publication A Hidden Ulster. A travelling shoemaker from County
Down tries his luck with a County Louth girl he meets on the road. When she fails to be impressed by his magnificence and requests that he remove himself from her presence forthwith, he suggests in no uncertain terms that Louth people are not as well mannered, good looking or hospitable as the people of his own glen back in County Down.
